GIFTS OF INSURANCE

A gift of life insurance is a simple, thoughtful and often overlooked way to make a gift to Campus Crisis Centre Inc. Insurance allows you to make a substantial gift without taking on a large expense.

By taking out a new life insurance policy, and naming Campus Crisis Centre Inc. as owner and beneficiary, you will receive fully tax deductible receipts for the premiums you pay. Existing policies that have finished serving their original purposes can have the ownership and beneficiary designation transferred to Campus Crisis Centre Inc.. A tax receipt is then issued for the cash value.

The advantages to you are:

bulletA planned gift of life insurance saves you tax dollars today. Not only is this important to a donor who is looking for immediate tax relief, it also means that you can make sure that the tax-deductible limit is not exceeded.
bulletYour estate is not diminished to your heirs, because life insurance by its very nature, creates an additional, separate 'estate'.
bulletLife insurance is not subject to probate costs or delays in settlement. The full proceeds are payable to Campus Crisis Centre Inc. at maturity or death.
bulletLife insurance is not a matter of public record. You can plan, arrange and announce the gift yourself and you will know that it will occur just as you planned.
bulletUnlike a will, the gift cannot be contested.
bulletAllows you to contribute significantly to help students deal with sickness, disability, alcohol and chemical abuse, misfortune, trouble with the law, family abuse or dysfunction, distress, suffering, helplessness, homelessness, racial vilification, traumatic incidents, depression, sexual assault, personal crises and many other difficult situations.
bulletYour legacy to Campus Crisis Centre Inc. could amount to tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.

You have a choice of two ways in which you can contribute to Campus Crisis Centre Inc.
bulletNominate a specific monthly premium - it might be $30, $50, $100 or more - which you believe you can afford to contribute. The value of the insurance policy on your life endowed to Campus Crisis Centre Inc. will be calculated, based on this premium
bulletExample - For a male aged 45 (non-smoker) a fully tax deductible premium of *$45  a month will provide $258,000 of death cover with the proceeds endowed to Campus Crisis Centre Inc.
OR
bulletNominate the specific amount for which you wish to insure with Campus Crisis Centre Inc. as the beneficiary - you might elect to take out a policy which provides death cover of $50,000 or $100,000 or more. Your Monthly premiums will then be calculated, based on your age, to provide this amount of cover.
bulletExample - For a female aged 45(non-smoker) a fully tax deductible premium of *$45 will provide $325,000 of death cover with the proceeds endowed to Campus Crisis Centre Inc.

*N.B: All premiums quoted, increase with age and are subject to change without notice.

We recommend you discuss your gift intentions with a life insurance agent to determine which type of insurance best suits your needs. When you are ready to proceed, we would be pleased to assist you in completing your gift.

It must be stressed that this form of assistance will never replace the system of direct private donations. Indeed it cannot be allowed to substitute for this vital source of day to day funding as this would defeat the purpose and threaten our viability. We do believe however that it represents the best method of securing the long term future of Campus Crisis Centre Inc.

You are being asked to consider paying monthly life insurance premiums in addition to your valued support as a private donor.
